OK so today is my birthday. I’m resolving to post on this blog more. If for no other reason but simply to get my thoughts out there… it’s healthy, you know?

Since my last post, I gave up the studio, started working for a photographer (Farrah Braniff) and for Ward & Ames. I’m finally starting to understand my strengths and what I love, as well as my weaknesses and the things I hate. I’m finding out what inspires me to create. In the past, there was one simple variable that was hindering me from achieving these personal epiphanies - rent. Eliminating the studio was the best single decision I ever made (regarding money). Now the equation is simple: work=money.

I’m finding that I can satisfy my need to create from pretty much anywhere. All I need is my trusty laptop. I’m so thankful for the opportunities that have presented themselves to me in the past couple months and I truly believe that I’m headed down the right path.

So here’s to being 25. This is going to be MY year.

If it happens again tonight I’m going to complain like a mother.

Today is rehearsal. I met a handful of the people I’ll be working with last night over drinks. More on these guys to come…

I just hope I can get through today without crashing. And I just realized I have to find someone to tie my tie. I always have Korey do it and he’s not here! I miss him already.

The shows are packaged and delivered to the networks complete will fade in and fade out points in which to put these commercials. So why, then, when I’m watching (a rerun of) one of my favorite shows do they decide to put the commercials where ever they want instead of the designated spots?! Not only is it completely unnecessary, it’s totally annoying! It completely disrupts the flow the show is supposed to have. Then, when we come back from commercial, there’s a fade out and fade in spot in the middle of nowhere. It doesn’t make sense!! Thank heavens this only happens with reruns. I may just have to start boycotting TV. *sigh*

Last week I was hired to submit some concept drawings to my Special Events friends at Ward & Ames so that they could put together a package for this non-profit organization wanting to throw a fundraiser in the Fall. I slaved over a design concept, rendered a handful of drawings and submitted them. Yesterday, the package was presented, with my concept as one of the options. They went with mine! Awesome. That means I’ll get to develop my concept further and fine tune it to the event’s needs, and to the specific venue - which will most likely be the Hobby Center. So for my first *official* gig like this, I’m just ecstatic that it has gone well. I hope I get many more like it!

All this week, I’ll be training my stomach to live on one banana for breakfast and a *tiny* lunch. Next week, I’ll be in Vegas working all day with little opportunity to eat a substantial meal (at least that’s what I’ve been told.) I’m also trying to work out a lot and get used to being on my feet a lot. I’ll be on my feet from 9-5 every day next week. I’m SOOO excited to be a part of this but I gotta say I’m kinda nervous because it’s way different work than what I typically do day-in day-out.

So far, so good. Banana = good.

It’s funny how a night as restless as last night can be so full of vivid dreams.

I kept starting the same dream over and over again… I would arrive at my parents house in the middle of the night. The neighborhood was eerily still and darker than usual. The only sound I could hear was Christmas music coming from a parked car down at the end of the cul-de-sac. It appeared to be an older white SUV. The driver door was wide open. I couldn’t bring myself to investigate, only make my way back to the garage behind my parents’ house. The garage was set up like a dingy apartment, complete with dank smell and beat-up couch. I looked around and no one was inside, but I could hear someone’s muffled talking coming from somewhere nearby. My heart started racing and I woke up.

I started that dream about 4 times, each time the details were slightly different. The SUV was closer or farther, the voice was more or less distinguishable, and in one iteration, a bright light was coming from a window in the next door neighbor’s house. Not a clue what it meant, but I’m pretty sure the voice in the dream was my Mom’s. Either way, the dream kept me up allll night.

~~~
SO, when I got to the studio, I decided to grab a couple more hours sleep. On my plans for today was to meet with deMarco and get some songwriting done. I knew I would be worthless on such little sleep so I postposed a couple hours and crashed. I guess that was a bad idea becuase the whole time, I dreamed that deMarco was here and had brought in a video crew to record our songwriting session. Also I had to use the bathroom and I couldn’t find it. And when I did finally find it, it was just a big room with lots of people in it. There were extra rooms in the studio as well. Big ones that I wasn’t really aware of. I have a ‘dream version’ of the studio. Not as in ’studio of my dreams,’ but more of ‘twisted version of the studio that appears in my nighttime visions.’ It’s a lot bigger, and usually some portion of it is under construction. Another common theme in this version is that the whole place is underwater, or had just been underwater and everything is wet. Straaange. I wish there was an alternate reality we could visit that housed all of the ‘dream versions’ of our favorite (or not so favorite) places.
Anyway I’m glad I’m awake now and feel somewhat useful. :/ Glad I got that written down.
